So, since my last post, I was lucky enough to go to the Big Apple and receive a big sparkly diamond ring from my now fiancé! That’s right, we got engaged! Going to New York was one thing but getting engaged just topped it off!
If any of you have ever been to New York, I don’t need to tell you how incredible it is, and at Christmas, it’s even more magical. It really was the best trip ever and it’s going to take a lot to beat!
In the 4 days and 3 nights we were there, we did all the major sights; Ground Zero, Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, Wall Street, Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square, Grand Central Terminal, etc. Nothing was a disappointment, and just walking around the streets of New York was surreal.
Being Christmas time, we were there to see the Rockefeller Tree lighting. As a big Home Alone and Elf fan, seeing this was one of my top priorities, and it was well worth it! Everywhere you go there are twinkling lights, elaborate window displays, and oversized Christmas decorations, not to mention bell ringers singing festive songs on each corner!
It was my birthday during our visit, and not only did we get to spend the day ice skating in Central Park, we went to a Live Jazz evening! The evening was a ‘Winter Wonderland’ theme and was full of Christmas music – it was amazing!
Next… the grub! Oh my. Big portions, waffles on every corner, pancakes for breakfast, what more could you want? We ate out at American diners mostly but one evening went to a lovely little restaurant at the bottom of the FRIENDS building called The Little Owl which was wonderful.
The highlight was of course the engagement. It was in Brooklyn, overlooking the Manhattan skyline. It was just amazing and it’s all on video! You can read more about it here in You and Your Wedding magazine.
If you’re planning on going to New York and want any recommendations, I’d be happy to help!
I’ll leave you with a few photos …
